He also enjoyed the picture drawing and writing. My son was able to understand and relate to the examples. This book is well written. Child friendly- just plain terrific.
The series is great. I recommend this book to anyone who's kid complains. I am so impressed with this author. What to Do When You Grumble Too Much: A Kid's Guide to Overcoming Negativity (What to Do Guides for Kids) Simply, my son complains about everything, and using this book, reading it to him and working the exercises has gotten him to reduce his complaining. NOt gone 100%, but in the right direction.
PS - I'm a psychologist and professor and recommend this series a lot. I enjoyed the 3 books I purchased in this series. It provided a common vocabulary for my son and I and enabled him to realize he is not alone in his worries.
The 6-year-old actually said, "That sounds like me." as we were reading it. I was unsure whether this book would be what I was looking for because I didn't have the ability to look inside, but it was perfect. I needed some help with a 6-year-old (my son) and a 12-year-old (client-I am a counselor) who have a "glass half-empty" outlook on life.
He has gained new skills be reading this book. the book has been able to help my son identify and resolve conflict. I have an Autistic child that was thrilled to learn that some of his "behaviors" are found in a book. He was excited to know that he is not alone and that there are other people who share his same need to learn new skills.
